0 h: Arinsal - Torrent Ribal 1.580 m Set off from the picnic area at the foot of the Ribal waterfall. 0.40 h: Aigues Juntes Follow the wide track for about 800 m, then take the path on the left (sign posted) to Aigues Juntes, the confluence of the rivers flowing from Coma Pedrosa and Pic de l'Estany. Carry on along the well-marked path towards Grau. 2.20 h: Coma Pedrosa mountain hut 2.272 m Having climbed some steepish slopes, pausing to admire the cascading river of Coma Pedrosa, you reach the Coma Pedrosa refuge, on the pass of the same name, near l'Estany de les Truites (Trout Lake). The refuge is of high quality, and food and drink is available from a guardian in the Summer. 3.30 h: Portella de Sanfons 2.573 m At this point, you will find spectacular views of Coma Pedrosa, the Tor valley and the Pallars mountains. Then, climb the mountain ridge towards the peak of Sanfons, taking care with the awkward, stony sections. 4.45 h: Pic de Sanfons 2.888 m This peak is unique for its long, smooth summit, with splendid views of Coma Pedrosa, the Baiau lakes and the Medecorba peak. Return by the same trail. A possible detour, although rough, is to descend to the Estany Negre, below the Baiau peak, (careful as you go down the gully) round the left side of the lake and down to the original Coma Pedrosa path.

Note concerning the excursions that that at the Ribal cascade (1'600m).  Following an avalanche, the Andorran Government decided to build a protection wall cutting off the upper part of the valley of Arinsal from the rest of the world.  The locals call it the "great wall of China".  In order to get to the Ribal cascade, walk through the tunnel.  To your great surprise, you will see apartment buildings on the other side of the wall !!! (Mind you, they are for sale!).  Take a right just after the first tunnel.  The Ribal cascade is above the second tunnel.  The Ribal cascade is about at a 15 minute walk from your apartment or chalet.
